MAB-U MICROPROCESSOR AUTOMATIC BLOCKING HAS BEEN PUT INTO CONSTANT OPERATION AT THE STANISHEVKA-ZHYTOMYR SPAN OF THE SOUTHWESTERN RAILWAY

In August 2014, the MAB-U microprocessor automatic blocking manufactured by RPA “Impulse” was put into constant operation at the Stanishevka-Zhytomyr Span of the Southwestern Railway.

The commission consisting of the Central Administration of Automation, Telemechanics and Communications and specialists of the Southwestern Railway inspected MAB-U for meeting the requirements of the terms of reference, its operability, functional capabilities, general parameters of performance characteristics and design solutions. Based on the results of operation, the commission decided to accept a prototype model of the MAB-U system for constant operation. Also, the commission recommended to develop batch production of MAB-U and to advise to implement this system at the Ukrainian railways.

MAB-U – a system of train separation and assurance of train operation safety at spans on a real-time basis, display of train location information, advanced monitoring and diagnostics.

MAB-U differs from relay systems mainly in the following:

• hot backup of equipment;
• self-diagnostics of devices and reporting to operating personnel;
• lower power consumption and smaller production space occupied;
• availability of an archive containing events and operation of system’s equipment.
