SPECIALISTS OF ZAPORIZHZHYA NPP HAVE TAKEN PART IN THE ACCEPTANCE TESTING OF THE INSTRUMENTATION AND CONTROL SYSTEM FOR UNIT 3 (SOURCE: SE “NNEGC “ENERGOATOM”)

The specialists of the thermal instrumentation & control shop (TI&CS) of Zaporizhzhya NPP took part in the acceptance testing of the instrumentation and control system (I&C system) of the turbine division normal operation system for the third unit of the plant. Also, the commission included representatives of the manufacturing plant and the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine.

The designer and the manufacturer of the system is Severodonetsk Research and Production Association “Impulse”. The similar equipment has already been installed at units 1, 2, and 5 of ZNPP. Now the similar system is being mounted at the fourth unit.

Having studied the preliminary results, the commission divided into three subcommissions: technical one, to check the software and the technical documentation. The materials of the preliminary and standard testing of the automation hardware of the I&C system were studied, the experimental checks were carried out according to the programme and the methods, also the technical documentation was checked for completeness and quality.

“The software and hardware system was placed at the testing ground – under the conditions approximate to real operation of the equipment at the unit. This allowed to make sure that the I&C system meets the requirements of the terms of reference and the normative documents adopted in Ukraine”, - told the lead engineer for reconstruction of the instrumentation and control service of TI&CS Alexei Shmyglia.

Besides the obligatory checks stipulated by the acceptance testing programme, the additional ones were carried out that were not carried out previously. The results convinced the acceptance commission that the equipment of the I&C system is operable and will be able to perform its main task.

The new equipment will allow monitoring the passage of any signal, its characteristic at the given moment. It will make it possible to take the archive for a certain time period for each of the signals or to view the whole archive of parameters.

The new equipment will arrive to the site of Zaporizhzhya NPP in the nearest time.
