MODERNIZATION OF THE PROCESS INFORMATION SYSTEM (IVS) OF UNIT 3 OF RIVNE NPP HAS BEEN COMPLETED

The modernization of the process information system (IVS) of Unit 3 has been completed at Rivne NPP in July 2015. 

The modernization of IVS includes replacement of the hardware, the life of which has been completed, with the modern industrial workstations and the microprocessor monitoring and control systems, which are interconnected with the fibre optic communication links.

IVS performs all main functions for the reliable and failure-free operation of the Unit: records and documents the parameters and the characteristics of the technological process in all Unit’s modes of operation, provides the information to the personnel, monitors both the critical safety functions and the main safety parameters, calculates and analyzes the technical and economical characteristics of the equipment, provides the reference information on the technological equipment and the I&C assets, as well as diagnoses the hardware and the software of IVS. IVS processes 16 thousand parameters of the direct measurements and 8 thousand parameters, which are transmitted to IVS via the digital communication channels from the other control and instrumentation software and hardware systems.

The modernization of the system has been implemented within the framework of the Complex (Consolidated) Safety Upgrade Program for the Units of operating Ukrainian NPPs and has been carried out in three stages. After completion of the last stage, the system has been commissioned (one year of the trial operation), and after this the industrial commissioning will take place.

The designer and the supplier of the hardware for IVS is PJSC “SRPA “Impulse”, and the designer of the application software – State Enterprise “Kharkov Scientific-Research Institute of Integrated Automation”. The installation and adjustment have been carried out by Kuznetsovsk installation and adjaustment enterprise “Energoyuzhmontazh”.
